Actividad 1. Read Book U24: p. 248. Then read the notes below, and make your own notes.

Preterite Indicative of Regular Verbs (indicates completed actions in the past/recent past)

Some –IR verbs: abrir, asistir, cubrir, describir, discutir, dividir, escribir, existir, sufrir, recibir, reír, vivir.

(10) The Preterite Indicative: SER/IR: Identical special preterite forms of SER (to be) and IR (to go)

Actividad 1. Lea/read these notes. Lea Libro U27: p. 255-6.
SER (to be): Preterite stem: Yo fui estilista (I was a hair stylist); tú fuiste; ella fue; nosotros fuimos, vosotras fuisteis, ellos fueron.
IR (to go): Preterite stem: Yo fui a casa (I went home); tú fuiste; ella fue; nosotros fuimos, vosotras fuisteis, ellos fueron.

SER

Yo fui un estilista.  I was a hair stylist.

Tú fuiste maestro. You were a teacher.

Nora fue católica.  Nora was catholic.

Nosotros fuimos buenos estudiantes. We were good students.

Vosotros fuisteis excelentes amigos. You (pl. masc Spain) were real friends.

Ustedes fueron buenos actores. You (pl) were good actors.

Ana Sofía y Carmen fueron enfermeras. Ana Sofía were nurses.

IR

Yo fui a casa. I went home.

Tú fuiste a jugar futbol. You went to play soccer.

Victoria fue a la cafetería. Victoria went to the cafeteria.

Nosotros fuimos al centro comercial el sábado pasado. We went to the mall last Saturday.

Vosotras fuisteis a hablar con el profesor. You (pl. fem Spain) went to talk with the professor.

Ustedes fueron a Henderson el domingo pasado. You (pl) went to Henderson last Sunday.

Sergio y Angel fueron a visitar a Fernando. Sergio and Angel went to visit Fernando.

Actividad 2. Translate these sentences into Spanish.

1.      Where did you (formal singular) go on Sunday? ¿Dónde fue el domingo?

2.      We went to a Hispanic/Latino event. Nosotros fuimos a un evento Hispano/Latino.

3.      My grandmother was an employee in a factory.

4.      They were not kind. Ellos no fueron amables.
