Final Oral Interview SPN 101

Guidelines and Topics  

You will have DIEZ minutos to have an oral interview with the instructor before the semester ends (Mid-April)

ASSESSMENT: Your answers for both parts will be assessed according to these dimensions: Pronunciation (20 POINTS) (How well you pronounce your words and sentences). Proficiency (30 POINTS) (How accurate is your word, sentence and discourse formation), Vocabulary (use of different words) (20 POINTS) and Creative Communication Skills (30 POINTS) (How you negotiate meanings in English and Spanish, strategies for clarification, body and facial language). TOTAL: 100 points.

First part: It consists of general questions about your academic and personal life. Be ready to answer any of these questions.

Buenos días/tardes/noches. 1. ¿Cómo está hoy?; 2. ¿Está usted cansada/o? ¿Por qué?; 3. ¿De dónde es usted?; 4. ¿Dónde vive usted? 5. ¿Cómo escribe su nombre?; 6. ¿Cómo escribe su apellido?; 7. ¿Trabaja?; 8. ¿Cuándo es su cumpleaños?; 9. ¿Qué fecha es hoy?; 10. ¿Qué hora es por favor?         

Second part: We will pick ONE topic for your interview (see below). We will pick a second topic when your first topic is not strong enough to be assessed. Please prepare your answers for these topics.

Tema 1: La universidad. Dígame acerca de sus estudios universitarios/Tell me about your college studies. Algunas preguntas/Some questions: ¿Qué estudia aquí en la universidad? (What do you study/are you studying here at school?¿Qué clases toma en la semana? What classes/course are you taking? ¿Cuáles son sus cursos favoritos? Which are your favorite courses/subjects?  ¿Por qué? Why. Haga algún comentario final. Make some final comment abour your college life.

Tema 2: La familia. Dígame de su familia/Tell me about your familia. Algunas preguntas: ¿Cuántas personas hay en su familia? How many people/persons are there in your family?¿Dónde viven? Where do they live? ¿Con quién vive usted? Who do you live with? ¿Cuándo visita a sus padres? When do you visit your parents? ¿Cómo se llaman sus padres? What are your parents’ names? Haga algún comentario final de su familia. Make a final comment about your familia. 

Tema 3: Los pasatiempos. Dígame de sus pasatiempos/Tell me about your pastimes. Algunas preguntas Some questions: ¿Qué hace en su tiempo libre? What do you do in your free time? ¿Cuál es su deporte o pasatiempo favorito? What is your favorite pastime or sport?¿Por qué? Why? ¿Qué hace con sus amigos o con su familia? What do you do with your friends or with your family? ¿Qué va a hacer este fin de año? What are you going to do for the end of the year/end of year holidays. Haga algún comentario final acerca de sus pasatiempos. Make a final comment about your pastimes.
