SPN 102 The Future Tense: El tiempo futuro

Interacción: Skim this interaction and do the following:
a. Write down the future tense forms of these verbs: hacer, seguir, terminar, ir, poder, tener, ver.
b. What are the changes for these verbs? What are the rules to form the future tense?
c. Read the interaction and answer these questions: What is the relationship between Antonieta and Elva? What will Antonieta and Elva do this weekend? Who is for sure going to Ramón’s gathering?

Vocabulario: seguir: to continue, to follow, terminar: to finish, investiagación: research., planeado: planned, entregar: hand in; próximo: next, reunión: meeting.

Antonieta: ¿Qué harás este fin de semana?
Elva: Nada especial. No tengo nada planeado. Pero seguiré trabajando con mi proyecto de investigación. Y tú, ¿qué vas a hacer?
Antonieta: Terminaré un informe que debo entregar el próximo lunes. ¿Irás a la reunión de Ramón?
Elva: No sé si podré ir o no. Tendré que decidir el viernes.
Antonieta: Yo sí voy/ Si tú vas nos veremos ahí.
Elva: Está bien.

Future Tense: Regular formation: -AR, -ER, -IR verbs attach these endings for the future tense: é, ás, á; emos, éis, án →
ESTUDIAR: estudiaré, estudiarás, estudiará; estudiaremos, estudiaréis, estudiarán.
BEBER: beberé, beberás, beberá; beberemos, beberéis, beberán.
REPETIR: repetiré, repetirás, repetirá; repetiremos, repetiréis, repetirán.

Irregular formation: The eleven irregular future stems are:
Podr- (from poder); querr- (from querer); habr- (from haber); sabr- (from saber)
Dir- (from decir); har- (from hacer)
Saldr- (from salir), valdr- (from valer); pondr- (from poner); tendr- (from tener); vendr- (from venir).

Ejercicio 6. Actividades en el futuro. ¿Qué hará usted el fin de semana, para el verano, en un mes, las fiestas de fin de año, o en algunos meses? Mention at least five activities you will do or won’t do on your own and somebody else in the short and long term.
