nadie sabe hacerme frente
con un beso diferente
que despierte mis instintos como tú
nadie conoce el mecanismo de mi amor
tan solo tú, solo tú

(...)
sin ti
no hay nada si no estás tú
sin ti
se apaga el amor
sin ti
no hay nada si no estás tú
sin ti
se apaga el amor

tu memoria en mi memoria
ya no puedo distinguir si yo soy tú
no queda un átomo de mí
donde no estés siempre tú
siempre tú

Part ONE: Arturo Xuncax: Guatemala
A ver pues.
You see, you’re a smart man. You know that Arturo Xuncax is not your friend. None of them are your friends. They don’t respect old customs. They’ll just ruin you. It’s horrible. Think of your family. Now let’s stop wasting time. Tell me where they’re meeting.
(Escenas del pueblo: música)

En casa de Arturo.
Rosa: Otra vez Don Goyo. Tan rechulo que toca.
It’s Don Goyo. I love his music.
Arturo: Sentate mija.
Come, sit down.  (music continues). Are Pedro and Josefina coming?
Esposa: Ya merito que llegan pues. Arturo…¿será que sales esta noche?
Yes, they’ ll be here soon. /Pause/ Arturo…are you really going out tonight?

(risas)
In the US, even the poorest people have toilets… just like Don Rodrigo’s! You flush it and everything vanishes instantly. You can really pee in style there!
Pedro: Ya ya. Siempre el norte. ¿No puedes hablar de otra cosa?
It’s always the north with you. Can’t you talk about anything else?
I love hearing about the north.
Mama: Good. (Quiche)
But it’s true. I have heard there is a lot of money there. I have heard from my friends –people that have left. And you can see on TV how it is up there.
Josefina: Así es mijo. Hasta el más pobrecito tiene su carro.
That’s right. Even the poor people have their own cars.
So, how do you know so much about the north?
For ten years, Don Rodrigo’s cook has been giving me all of her old Good Housekeeping magazines. Ten years I have reading them. I know plenty.
